The Through a Field of Stars book series was inspired by my own pilgrimages on the Camino de Santiago. Here’s a glimpse of some of the people and places that you’ll find throughout the novels.

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the ending point of all the Camino routes. Saint James is buried inside, and for thousands of years, pilgrims have been walking here. We see this cathedral a number of times through the series.

The tradition on the Camino is to bring a rock from your home that represent a burden you have, then to leave is behind at Cruz de Fiero. In book 1, we see Princess Isabella and her companions leave their rocks here.

Your pilgrim’s passport gets stamped in every city you stop. The Cross of Jerusalem was on a stamp that sparked a conversation with a long-time local of the Castrojeriz who mentioned of secret Templar passageways throughout the city.
